Homemade banana bread does not have to be a culinary challenge – use homemade Bisquick mix to pull this sweet and satisfying loaf together in no time!
Admittedly, I like banana bread.
We’ve seen Vegan Sourdough Banana Bread. We’ve seen Millet Banana Bread. There were even Banana Oatmeal Muffins to scale things down to an individual-portioned level.
Obviously my love for banana bread recipes is not a new thing.
But taking my love for all things banana bread and combining it with my love for using homemade versions of store-bought items? That one is new.
I’ve found that what a lot of people most dislike about baking in general (aside from the science of it, which I totally love, #nerdalert) is measuring, particularly dry ingredients. Measuring dry ingredients makes a mess (there is a fine coating of flour over pretty much everything I own) and dirties up a lot of things – there’s the spoon for scooping, the cup for measuring, and the knife for leveling.
Let’s make our own Homemade Bisquick Mix and use that as much as possible, cutting down the messes we have to make and the dishes we have to wash, shall we?
I don’t know about you, but I am in full support of this movement.
Previous banana bread recipes around here have been a little bit on the healthy side (Millet? Healthy. Coconut oil? Flax seed? All healthy.) but this recipe leans more to the side of being a special afternoon snack than a healthy breakfast alternative.
To make things extra special, I’ve included a bit of almond extract in the batter. It makes the resulting bread have a bit of an amaretto flavor, which feels just downright indulgent, particularly when slathered with melted butter.
This is my latest recipe for Food Fanatic! Be sure to head over there for more great recipes every day.
So I know what to make you for breakfast when you visit me now 😉
Banana ALL THE THINGS! And throw in some bananas foster for good measure for dessert. It’s a problem.
How did you know I was looking for a recipe for homemade Bisquick!! You must have that “ESPN” or something!! Thanks darlin 🙂
Hahaha, yes!
Never can have too many banana bread recipes! Love this!!!
I agree! Thank you!
I like this idea! Just keep homemade bisquick on hand, smart! Banana bread looks phenom!
It is such a handy thing to have. Makes great Red Lobster-style biscuits, too!
Wow! This is so clever, great idea!
Thanks! It’s so easy, too!
One of the many reasons we are friends! Love me any banana bread-ish recipe!
I want to make this into a dirty joke so badly. Which, honestly, is probably another reason why we are friends.
yay homemade Bisquick! yay easy banana bread!
ALL OF THE BANANA! Oh yes! I love banana bread (read: addicted) and make it all the time at home… mostly as other people like it too (read: Aaron) and it disappears quickly! This version sounds delish. Love the amaretto addition… I can imagine how good this would be warm with butter. Or mascarpone and toasted, flaked almonds. And possibly honey. My imagination is eating the entire loaf right now! xxx
Question: can you double this recipe and bake it in a 13 x 9 pan?
I haven’t tried that so I’m not sure of the exact result. If you try it, though, I’d love to hear how it turns out!
