30 recipes from around the web for great game day snacks to put your Super Bowl party over the top.

game day snacks

Boyfriend and the Interwebs tell me that there is a major sporting event coming up on Sunday, February 2.

Honestly, this might be the first year that I have any inkling of who could be playing in the Super Bowl prior to scrolling through my Facebook newsfeed the day of the game.

Sad, but true.

Dating a sports fan really opens your eyes to a lot of things. Aside from discovering this summer that baseball games actually last 955 years, I actually know more or less what is going on during approximately 45% of a football game, now – although I still think that they should highlight the guy carrying the ball in bright purple so he’s easier to spot. There’s a lot going on on the field! Boyfriend thinks I’m nuts (as usual).

I may still only understand a fraction of the game, but I 100% understand the attraction to game day snacks. Cheese, guac, more cheese, chips, dip, cheese again…this is a diet I can support. So to help you better plan for game day, I have gathered up 30 snack recipes perfect for serving at your Super Bowl party (or any get-together!).

  1. We don’t have the superbowl over here (shock! horror!) but I’m definitely going to eat ALL of these snacks for something else snack-worthy. Like, uh… a Parks and Rec Season 5 marathon. Or the Australian Open tennis season, which is happening at the moment. To be honest, I’d only watch it for the snacks 😉 Gorgeous link up Stephie! xx

    1. Yes, yes, yes! Parks and Rec totally deserves a snack marathon. And I’d be happy to live in a world with no Super Bowl, to be quite honest… (I’m just glad it means that the end of football season is near!)

  2. OBSESSED with everything on this list. “Super Bowl” has long been synonymous with “I must eat all the things in front of me” for me– who cares about football when there’s so much food begging to be devoured?!Thank you for including my caramelized onion dip, lovely!

  3. I think highlighting the guy in purple is a darn good idea. I wish I would have thought of that and said it during my growing-up years/living with Grandpa and Uncle Steve and the football/basketball madness. I think we’ll celebrate by making some snacks and pretending to watch. Remember watching the boob slip with youth group from a few years ago? Wonder who was playing that year? 😉

    1. SEE?! I knew I could get support for this idea. I’m clearly a sports genius. 😛

And I sure couldn’t tell you who was playing, but I remember who was performing….

  4. Thanks for sharing my queso dip! 🙂 I just love super bowl food–wayyyy more than the actual game (don’t tell my husband). But for real–who doesn’t love cheesy, gooey, yummy appetizers!

    1. Snacking marathons are my kind of sports. Unless it’s the Olympics, I’ll watch that the whole dang time they’re on! Why aren’t there traditionally Olympic parties with Olympic-sized snacks?!

  5. Football has always been a mystery to me…someone will explain the rules and I’ll promptly forget them 10 minutes later. But I do LOVE watching a good football game. I’ve been all about watching the 9ers this year because Kaepernik was the quarterback at my college (UNR). Does Alex hate me? I hope he’s a 9ers fan. If not, we can pretend this convo never happened, and I’ll root for one of them other teams…what are they, again? Hmmmm.. Let’s eat game day food! Thanks for including my sliders in your tasty bundle of food! 🙂

    1. We have a Packers fan over here. Oops. And I was the same way with remembering the rules, but I am really trying this season and kind of get what is going on. Sort of. Though Alex still thinks I focus on bizarre things, like how the colors of the teams clash with each other or how some of the guys have longer hair than I do. Gross. I think these are important things!

  6. Yeah… I still don’t know who’s playing in the Superbowl (my husband is a football fan, but only for the Vikings, who sucked it up this year, so I know nothing). That’s not stopping me from eating all.the.things on Superbowl Sunday… starting with this list!

PS Thanks for sharing my eggs! Oh gosh that sounded so weird.
