Forget those salt-laden envelopes. Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix is a snap to make and tastes so much better!
Thank you so, so much – truly, from the bottom of my heart – for the sweet comments and feedback on the new site. Even though I adore the new design and am excited about the name change, it was still a little nerve wracking to present it to all of the internets. But the warm reception to all of the changes was so humbling and I am so grateful for all of your comments. I am still working on responding to all of them, but I promise I’ll get there.
So. I owe you guys a food post.
I’ve been a little preoccupied this week, but this is a recipe that I could do even in a zombie-like state. We have already made our own homemade taco seasoning, so it should come as no surprise that making our own seasoning mixes is a snap.
Have you ever actually tasted the prepackaged ranch dressing mix? Like, before you turn it into dip or dressing? If you have, you probably know that the predominant flavor is…salt. Yep, that’s right. Salt. Oh sure, you can taste the buttermilk and the herbs, but the saltiness of it is what will hit your taste buds first.
Do you know what Homemade Ranch Dressing Mix tastes like? Herbs. Spices. Buttermilk. Gee, imagine that.
I probably don’t even need to mention the fact that making your own Ranch Dressing Mix means that you can control the ratio of ingredients. Don’t like dill? Cut down the amount or leave it out. Love it? Add more! It’s all up to you. You’ve got the power. (Power!)
This is my latest post for Food Fanatic, but, as always, you can get the recipe right here!
