Hello, all! I’m still recovering from a long, wonderful, strangely bittersweet weekend, so no food post for you today. I did, however, want to check in with y’all and share my new favorite thing in the world right now: the Alpha Beta Glow Pad self-tanning system from Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare.

A couple of weeks ago I stopped by Sephora in search of a good self-tanner in preparation for the wedding. I just couldn’t stand the thought of being a ghost in the bridal party pictures, but have never had great success with self-tanners. The ladies at the Sephora store assured me that I would love this product, though, so I decided to give it a try. And you know what? They were right!

Let’s talk about how these guys work: These are little towelettes, almost like baby wipes, that contain crazy amounts of vitamin D that works with your own skin tone to give you a natural-looking tan. And they do! I used the whole system (for face and body) on a Sunday, and when I got to work on Monday, everyone thought that I had spent the weekend outside tanning. No one guessed that it was not a real tan.

Now, to be fair, this stuff isn’t cheap. However, it was worth every single penny. Also, because it works almost immediately (the tan starts to develop within an hour and continues to deepen over the next 12 hours or so – I put it on at night and then wake up tan and gorgeous the next morning), you really only need one good application before a big event, meaning a box could last you for quite some time if you only use it for special occasions.

Two more things to say about this: The towelette set-up is great because it makes it really easy to be methodical about applying it evenly and avoiding nasty streaks or missing big spots. Also, the ones for your face are not quite as dark as the ones for the body, so I discovered that, after applying it to my face and neck, I could use them on my hands and feet, since those are places you want a tan to fade out, not be super dark. Again, no one guessed that it wasn’t the real thing!

I promise to be back later this week with some food, but meanwhile, everyone needs to run, not walk, to your nearest Sephora and check this stuff out. For reals.
